How we assess you

First visit about 60 minutes; follow-ups about 45.
  1. 壹
    Look: complexion, tongue, posture.
  2. 貳
    Listen: voice and breathing.
  3. 參
Ask: your concerns, sleep, appetite, daily routine.
  4. 肆
Feel: pulse, and touch where needed.
"Observe the pulse and signs, understand what has gone wrong, and treat accordingly."(Shang Han Lun)

Common questions

Does acupuncture hurt?

The needles are very fine, about the width of a hair. You may feel a brief pinch as they go in, then a dull, heavy, achy or tingling feeling. That's normal. Tell us any time you're uncomfortable.

Can I use my insurance?

We can bill many extended health plans directly for acupuncture; you may need to pay the difference. Coverage varies by plan, so please check with your insurer. See insurers →

What are concentrated granule herbs?

Herbs that have been cooked down, concentrated and dried into granules. Stir them into warm water and drink. No boiling herbs at home.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Wear loose clothing or bring a change of clothes, have something to eat beforehand, and if you can, bring a list of your medications and supplements. See First Visit for details →

I'm pregnant. Can I still come?

Please tell us when you book. Some points and herbs are avoided during pregnancy, and we plan your treatment with that in mind.
